So it was in Texas.
As a full-time working artist in Austin, I produce functional pottery for local restaurants, ceramic objects for retail environments and fine art sculptures for exhibitions. My clay is often sourced from regional creeks and rivers, where influences run deep amid the limestone and juniper. Native to Texas, I’ve lived in the Basin and Range, the Great Plains and throughout the Hill Country. I’m interested in natural forms and patterns, and my studio practice explores themes in spontaneity, balance and proportion. By using my own arms and hands as units of measurement, I’m able to naturally express PHI (the golden ratio)—a design principle that we see throughout nature. When viewed through that lens, it’s not surprising that my work evokes images of bone, anatomy, geometry and the chambered nautilus. Please reach out if you have questions or commissions.
